Danny Hynes "..We supported Motorhead on the 32 date 'Ace Up Your Sleeve Tour' The gig at The Apollo was among the best of the tour. Weapon released one single during that tour, Mad Mad World b/w Set The Stage Alight, which got to number 2 in the Heavy Metal charts.

The band split towards the end of '81, due to managerial problems. Guitarist, Jeff Summers went on to play in Wildfire and Statetrooper with drummer Bruce Bisland, Bass player Baz Downes went on to join The Screaming Marionettes and I formed Paddy Goes To Holyhead, a rock covers band.

This band has included some of the top musicians around including Andy Scott & Mick Tucker (Sweet), Phil Lanzon (Uriah Heep) Les Warner (The Cult). Current members include Chris & Tino Troy (Praying Mantis) Simon Jeffery (Bernie Torme Band).."

"..Cool site! Pity for good old Apollo.....What a great High Theatre !! What a fantasic Hot Crowd !! Rock the Block.."Marc Storace

Joan Armatrading "..The Apollo was one of my favourite places to play anywhere in the world. I loved it and the wonderful Glasgow audiences. Great memories.."

"..I love the site and also loved the Apollo.

I have many memories of the balcony oscillating about 4 foot up and down with rampant dancing fans.

Who could forget the incredible raked stage which always lured me to the precipice that was the edge of the stage -12 foot to oblivion. Some of the best shows I ever did.

I must admit I did see the Rolling Stones in the late 70's there - it was the night that Billy Preston was having a bit of a wobbly and Jagger was desperately trying to cheer him up.  Best Wishes.."

Gordon Giltrap "..Without a doubt my finest memories as a performer are of my appearances at the Apollo. The roar of appreciation from the audience was just breathtaking, and one would leave the stage floating a foot of the ground. One really felt loved by that crowd and in return one wanted to give SO much back.To see the balcony's move up and down with the footstamping was awesome and frightening at the same time.

I would give anything to be transported back there now just to re live that wonderful feeling of sharing and being at one with the crowd.Without a doubt the greatest audience in the world.

It's just SO sad that as an artist these days I can't get arrested in Scotland, something is VERY wrong somewhere. Those dear fans MUST still be there somewhere. I would really welcome a return to Glasgow one day.

Someone PLEASE find a Scottish promoter with soul and vision to help make this dream come true.

God Bless you all up there, and THANKYOU for such wonderful memories of a truly legendary venue.."
