BLAST OFF
 It's pretty weird being the bride instead of the bridesmaid - but a nice weird! I'm used to hovering behind the scenes when SAHB get press coverage, but today it's been all about me, with Chris from SAHB along to help.
The press response to the book's publication has been great - we've had good coverage from the BBC, there's a spread in the Evening Times tomorrow (Saturday 12/11/2005) and there's more to come. The more people who hear about the book and share our memories the better!
Of course, Apollo Memories was actually completed in July 2005, and with so many other projects on the go I've forgotten a lot of the detail I'd built up with my research time. I lived and breathed the Apollo for a third of this year, but I can't keep it all in my head. So it was nice to read the book myself and realise - we've really done ourselves proud! I think it looks great, it reads wonderfully and it's stuffed full with character. And that's what we all wanted, I hope.
So the next chapter is to start hearing what you guys have to say about it. I'm sure I've got a few facts wrong, and I'm sure there are many more stories I didn't hear which would have made it in if I had done. I'd like to thank everyone who contributed, even if I didn't manage to squeeze everyone in. I hope those who didn't make it won't be disappointed -- the idea is that the book should bring more people onto the website, and we can all tell more stories there.
One of the most interesting things is that a lot of people have begun asking me whether I think there should be a plaque or something. Of course there should! I'm not sure about a plaque but I'm glad the conversation has been opened. Perhaps this time next year there'll be something to physically mark the Apollo's place in Scottish history - I hope so.
In the meantime, I can't wait to hear what you think of the book. I'm heading off on tour with SAHB next week but I will try to keep in touch. Maybe see some of you on the road!.
