And then he walked along the edge of the Circle

This is the place where we will post your stories about the Green's Playhouse, The Glasgow Apollo and Satelitte City (The Wee Apollo). As it develops we will break the stories up into sections such as Myths, Gigs I missed, Meeting the Bands, Where are they now etc. No story too trivial and we will only edit out bad language!

New Forum structure on Apollomemories soon.

Comments on Glencoe [reply]

My brother-in-law's brother played drums for Glencoe and I remember seeing them support Argent at one of their gigs. The guitarist and bass player both went on to join The Blockheads and are still with them to this day as far as I know. That night at the Argent gig,Glencoe were awsome. They are still to this day the only support band I have seen that had to come back onstage for an encore. They released 2 albums in their short career,Glencoe and The Spirit Of Glence, both of which Ii have on vinyl (tried searching for them in cd form but they are not available]. If you do happen to come across them in a second hand record shop, you wont be dissapointed should you decide to buy them. [reply]

I was at this concert as I was a huge Argent fan and I remember Glencoe being amazing. I had completely forgotten about them till now but I remember them doing an encore - must have a look for their albums.... [reply]

i remeber this gig coz we had nothing to do on a sunday night night,my girlfriend Mo Reid, a geezer called ozzy and i went along i had seen Glencoe support Wishbone Ash but on this night they were very good,if i remember John Turnbull was wearing 1 Rangers sock and 1 of the other lots still played some great guitar, same guy who played voodoo chile on Deep Purple support slot?Anyone remember that one? [reply]

I remember the keyboard players keyboard packed up half way through the gig, so they had to go and ask Jon Lord if they could use his Hammond Organ. I then found out the next day that a woman my mother worked with just happened to be the girlfriend (or possibly wife..cant remember) of the keyboard player!!!. Wish I had known beforehand, as I could maybe have wangled a back stage pass to meet Deep Purple...ah well....
